I’ve decided to turn this blog post into a 4-part series both because it is a broad topic and because there are several key elements which I’d like to elaborate on.
Each of which build upon the other and each of which are critical to understanding your success in the restaurant business. If you own or manage a restaurant or some other type of food service business, I know you will find this content both encouraging and invaluable.
As you are already aware, the name of this blog series is “Creating Your Successful Restaurant Business”. In this series, we will dissect that title, taking a look at each word and the significance that it plays in the performance of your establishment. I say, “each word” with the exception of course of “Your”.
The word “Your” is the reason why you’re reading this blog in the first place. You own, operate or manage a restaurant. It is “Your” responsibility, “Your” investment, you have “Your” blood, “Your” sweat and yes probably “your” tears in it as well. If it succeeds it will be “Your” success and if it fails, it will be “Your” failure.
So, I don’t have to dedicate an entire post to “Your” but I am going to write 4 posts. Part I is about “Creating…”. You are not a victim of your circumstances. You are not limited by the size of your current client base.
You are not “stuck” with bad employees. And you don’t have to settle for a high food cost just because of inflation. In Part I will convince you that you can create the restaurant and work environment of your dreams. You are the captain and you can chart your own course toward success.
“Creating Your Successful ….”
Part II will then address success. “Creating Your Successful ….” Just what is success. You can’t create and achieve success until you first define it. Success to you may be very different than how I define success. In this post I will coach you through the process of clarifying your ideal restaurant business.
You will learn to articulate your idea of a successful restaurant business, so you can envision it and begin to make it a reality.
In Part III we will discuss “Creating Your Successful Restaurant…”. The key word here being “…Restaurant…” and we will define restaurant as being the experience which your patrons have at your establishment; the quality of your food, the efficiency of your service and ambience of your atmosphere. Have you created the WOW! Factor? If not, they will look elsewhere for it.
Lastly, Part IV will deal with the “B” word. I say the “B” word because most hospitality professionals have gone into the restaurant business because they are really good at a certain skill. They are either a fantastic cook, a great salesman/waiter, or a gregarious people person who loves to create a wonderful dining experience.
But the title of this blog series is “Creating Your Successful Restaurant Business”. You can have the most extraordinary product and customer service and still fail in ”…Your Business…”. You must know the “B” word, Business, if you want to succeed in the long run.
So, I’m looking forward to helping you to “Create Your Successful Restaurant Business” and I know you are too!
